Water Pumps
Many people in the developing world rely on open water sources that have no cover. An unsealed water source means water becomes dirty and contaminated, leading to the spread of disease. Hand pumps are ideal for villages and households. They provide clean water for drinking, bathing and washing dishes. One pump is used by up to 10 families. There is a great need in many areas of West Bengal for clean water.
There are 2 types of water pumps which can be built;
A water pump with an enclosure (£240)
A water pump without an enclosure (£150)
A water pump with an enclosure is beneficial for bathing as it ensures privacy for the individual using it
The water pump without the enclosure is beneficial for washing dishes, washing clothes, drinking
